David J. Strobel
Executive Chair
Mr. Strobel, co-founder of Space Micro, brings substantial expertise in management of complex space technologies and space market penetration gained during his tenure as co-founder and President of Space Electronics, Inc. (SEi), and 18 years at SAIC and Northrop Electronics. He built SEi from an R&D startup to a 125-employee business with $13M in annual sales; his successful leadership led Maxwell Technologies to acquire SEi in 1999. During his service as a U.S. Air Force officer, Strobel managed several space R&D programs. He holds two U.S. patents for space radiation shielding, and has an MBA from Claremont Graduate School, an MS in Systems Management from University of Southern California, an MS in Nuclear Engineering from Cornell University, and a BS in Astronautical Engineering from U.S. Air Force Academy.
David Czajkowski
Chief Executive Officer, Director and Co-Founder

Mr. Czajkowski is a co-founder of Space Micro Inc., helping to lead the company’s growth since its inception in 2002. Under his leadership, Space Micro has developed industry leading computing, communication and imaging satellite and launch vehicle products, providing revenue and growth for the company. He is responsible for operations, including engineering, production, and business development.

Prior to joining Space Micro, Czajkowski was Chief Executive Officer at CyberDog Communications Inc. Additional satellite experience includes his work as co-founder of Space Electronics Inc., where he led the primary business unit designing and producing industry leading, radiation hardened microelectronic integrated circuits based on RAD-PAK technology. Czajkowski led all technical, production and business development for the radiation hardened products, from startup through INC 500 growth levels and to successful sale of the company to Maxwell Technologies.

He is the holder of various patents for radiation hardened electronics, field programmable microwave arrays and encryption key management technologies. David holds BSEE and MBA degrees from San Diego State University.

Czajkowski concurrently serves as a director of a Space Micro spin-off, Cyber Sphere Data Inc., an encryption key management security company.

Bert Vermeire
Chief Technical Officer
Dr. Vermeire brings his extensive experience in both industry and academia to Space Micro where his primary focus is advancing new technologies. He has been the principal investigator on a wide variety of research topics, including radiation effects on microelectronics devices and circuits and novel design techniques for mixed signal circuits using CMOS fabrication technologies. He spent three years as the CTO at Ridgetop Group in Tucson before joining the research faculty at Arizona State University in 2005. He holds seven patents and has authored more than fifty peer-reviewed publications. He received his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Arizona and holds an MS in Electrical Engineering from Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium.
John Low
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Low is an accomplished CFO and CPA with Big 4 CPA management experience and over 25 years of progressive financial leadership skills in both hardware and software industries. Low has worked at companies ranging from start-ups to publicly traded companies and has a proven track record in developing and executing strategic plans in challenging, fast-paced environments. In addition, his depth of knowledge in accounting and finance includes capital raising and mergers and acquisitions. He received a B.A in Economics from the University of California Los Angeles.
Patricia Ellison
Vice President of Human Resources and Administration
Ms. Ellison heads the Human Resources and Administration teams at Space Micro. She brings over twenty years of experience acquired through leadership positions in corporate, financial and personnel management. Prior to Space Micro, Ellison served as Controller at Pro Quotes, Inc., and Office Manager at Comsoly Consulting. Her background includes Information Technology, tax accounting, and internal audit activities. Ellison received her Bachelor of Business Administration from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a comprehensive major in Economics.
Eric Butte
Vice President of Engineering
Mr. Butte brings four decades of expertise in the space industry to lead the engineering team at Space Micro. Early in his career, he managed large programs in the SIGINT sector of over $60M with multiple subcontractors, and subsequently led a business area as a Senior Program Manager for laser communications. Prior to joining Space Micro, Butte was CTO for two startups – Xenesis and Helios Wire IoT – where he managed teams and programs for multiple partners and suppliers of key spacecraft hardware and software. Butte also held various senior management, engineering and program management roles at Lockheed Martin (Space Systems and IS&GS Defense) and Space Systems Loral (currently Maxar), and TRW (currently Northrop Grumman). He holds four patents for satellite communication systems designs and is the author of seven published papers. Butte earned a BSEE from Vanderbilt University and MSEE from University of Southern California.
Darrell Sellers
Engineering Director, Electronic Systems
Mr. Sellers leads the Electronic Systems engineering team at Space Micro. He has over 28 years of electronics design expertise with extensive, hands-on knowledge of all Space Micro digital products, including FPGA-based Proton computer boards, image processors and peripheral slices. Sellers’ designs have contributed to significant space flight heritage for Space Micro such as digital control units in our transponders on NASA LADEE and IRIS, various DoD and commercial programs and a forthcoming Proton600K experiment slated for the International Space Station. Previously, Sellers worked at Space Electronics Inc, Peregrine Semiconductor and as a Senior Design Engineer at General Atomics. He earned his BSEE at San Diego State University.
David Cook
Director of Information Technology
Captain Cook is the Director of IT for Space MIcro. He brings over 25 years of IT experience from satellite communications to network and server design to Kubernetes containers. Previously, Cook was CEO of SeaCode Inc., a maritime IT firm specializing in outsourced IT development. Cook holds a Master Unlimited license and has served as Master aboard ships ranging from scientific research vessels to super tankers. He has developed multiple processes that are now world standards in the shipping industry. Cook has worked as a professor and taught many classes at his alma mater, California Maritime Academy.
David Hansen
Director, Radiation Effects and Hardening

Dr. Hansen is a world-renowned expert in naturally-occurring and manmade radiation effects found in defense, civil and commercial space programs, with a primary focus on radiation-induced degradation of semiconductor devices. During his 20+ year career, Dr. Hansen has published over 50 papers and his research covers radiation effects on a variety of technologies including non-volatile memories, CMOS ASICs, SiGe, InP and photonic devices, as well as the development of models to predict those effects on orbit.

Prior to joining Space Micro, Hansen worked at Data Device Corporation, Maxwell Technologies, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), and The Boeing Company, where he was an Associate Technical Fellow.

Hansen earned his Ph.D. in Physics from University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), an M.S. in Physics from UNLV and a B.S. in Physics from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

Elettra Venosa
Engineering Director, Communications Systems
Dr. Venosa leads the Communications Systems team with extensive technical expertise in management of complex communication technologies for space. She has won, led and managed 25+ communication programs for the Army, AFRL, USSOCOM USSF, and aerospace primes. She has worked as a firmware engineer, system engineer and program manager at Space Micro. Venosa previously worked at Communications and Signal Processing Laboratory at Drexel University, IQ-Analog and Qualcomm. She earned her Ph.D. in Telecom/DSP Engineering at Seconda Universita degli Studi di Napoli and has done postdoctoral research on Multirate Signal Processing for Software Defined Radios at San Diego State University where she also taught graduate and undergraduate courses. Venosa is the co-author of more than 65 scientific publications and authored the book “Software Radio: Sampling Rate Selection Design and Synchronization”.
Giorgio Giaretta
Engineering Director, Optical Systems
Dr. Giaretta leads the Optical Systems engineering team in the development of advanced communications systems for space applications including laser communications terminals, space imaging sensors and star trackers for navigation and space domain awareness. Giaretta has more than 25 years’ experience developing innovative photonics telecom components and systems, free space optical terminals for space satellites interconnects and high-power lasers. Prior to joining Space Micro, he worked at CACI/SAPhotonics as a System Architect for single mode coherent optical communications links on LEO satellites. Giaretta holds more than 40 patents. He earned both an MS and Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
Gouri Dongaonkar
Director of Business Development
Ms. Dongaonkar leads Business Development and Marketing efforts at Space Micro bringing over seven years of experience presenting technical product knowledge across digital, laser and RF communications and electro-optical systems to develop long-term customer engagements. During her time at Space Micro, she has led the capture of new business across all product lines. Previously, Dongaonkar was a researcher studying photonic technologies through simulations at Lightwave Research Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratory. She also completed a New York Teaching Fellowship and taught middle and high school mathematics and earned an MA in Teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education. She holds an MS in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University and BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Rutgers University.
Joseph Zarrabi
Director of Laser and Photonics
Dr. Zarrabi brings over 30 years' experience to direct Space Micro's Laser Communications efforts in optical payloads, including GEO-to-GEO satellite laser communication at 100 Gbps. As a Senior Laser Physicist, he worked on high-power laser systems in many DOD and DARPA funded projects including LIDAR, time dependent 3D imaging based on high energy pulsed IR laser. His extensive hands-on experience in electro-optical design, modeling, fabrication of high-power laser systems, testing and payload integration has informed written proposals, technical reviews and white papers for funding from government agencies. Zarrabi has published over 20 scientific papers and holds two patents on micro laser technologies. He was awarded a Ph.D. in Physics from City University of New York.
Marshall Verbon
Director of Manufacturing
Mr. Verbon oversees the Space Micro manufacturing team in all aspects of production from planning to electronic, mechanical and optical assembly, as well as shipping, receiving and inventory control. His foremost focus is ensuring deliverables meet customer requirements, but also on streamlining for organizational profitability. Verbon has spent the breadth of his 30-year career in the space and technology industries managing supply chain, planning, operations and manufacturing, nearly one-quarter of which has been for Space Micro and its predecessor, Space Electronics, Inc. Prior to joining Space Micro, Verbon worked for ASML/Cymer Corporation, Entropic, Inc., Peregrine Semiconductor, and Ultra Communications, Inc. He holds an MBA from San Diego State University and BA in Business Economics and Communication Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Theodore Reyes
Director of Programs
Mr. Reyes brings over 25 years’ experience in electronics engineering and manufacturing to lead the Program Management Office at Space Micro. He oversees a team that focuses on delivering customers' program requirements, meeting budgets and schedules, as well as providing contract and proposal support. Prior to joining Space Micro, Reyes worked as a Senior Program Manager in aeronautics, defense and communications on programs such as Datalinks at Cubic Corporation, Terrestrial & Satellite Communications at Qualcomm, the MQ-9 Reaper at General Atomics and the F35-HMD at Rockwell Collins. Reyes,a USAF Intelligence veteran, earned an MBA at National University and a BS in Industrial Technology from San Diego State University. He holds three patents in tool design.
Zainab Al Khudairi
Quality Manager
An expert in quality processes and technical engineering, Ms. Al Khudairi manages the Quality Assurance department at Space Micro where she works closely with the internal team and with customers to ensure QA requirements are met and products are in full compliance. Al Khudairi has developed and implemented quality control systems using materials logistics, inventory management and manufacturing processes that are compliant with ISO 9001, J-STD-001 Space Addendum. Previously, Al Khudairi worked at Ultra Communication where she led the QA team in avionics, space, maritime and terrestrial applications. She worked alongside manufacturing and engineering in the development of high speed imbedded optical transceivers for harsh environments (HEFO). Al Khudairi holds both an MS and BS in Mechanical Engineering.

Paul Schauer
Board Member
Mr. Schauer is the Executive Vice President, Integrated Operations at Voyager Space Holdings, the parent company of Space Micro. He has a strong background in contracts with the U.S. Air Force, BIT Systems, and CACI, where he previously served as Vice President of Contracts, then Vice President of Tactical Solutions. Schauer serves on the Boards of Directors for several Voyager Space companies including Space Micro Inc., Pioneer Astronautics, Altius Space Machines, Inc., The Launch Company, and Valley Tech Systems, Inc. He earned an MBA from Wright State University in International Business.
Frank Morgan
Board Member
Mr. Morgan is a dynamic, decisive hands-on Global Business Executive with a wealth of knowledge and experience delivering excellent EBITDA growth, margin enhancement overseeing all aspects of a P&L/finance. His goals are to build enterprise value and accelerate revenue by finding new revenue streams including new channels, markets, business development opportunities and expanding the global footprint. Morgan has a wealth of experience having served as Vice President of Global Sales & Customer Support for L3 Technologies, Vice President of Global Sales & Service at ThermoFisher Scientific, and Vice President & General Manager of L3Harris Technologies, among other roles. He earned his MBA in Business from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland.
Ty Baumbaugh

Mr. Baumbaugh is the Chief Operating Officer of Nanoracks, LLC. He has extensive experience improving business processes and performance. Baumbaugh is an innovator, leader, collaborator, strategist, and champion of results-driven change, a chemical engineer turned business problem solver. Prior to accepting his current position at Nanoracks, he served as the Executive Vice President of Operations for Voyager Space, as Senior Engineer (Capital Project Manager) for Roche, and Principal Engineer, Capital Project Manager for the Hershey Company, among other positions. Baumbaugh holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Double Major in Economics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and an MBA, Strategy Concentration, from Duke University – The Fuqua School of Business.
